Suman Das, a Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel from the 3rd Battalion stationed in Kanchanpur, Dhalai district, has been placed under suspension following allegations of misconduct. A government order issued today stated that Das was suspended with immediate effect as a disciplinary proceeding is currently underway against him.

Das, who was serving as a ward boy, has been directed to remain at the 3rd Battalion headquarters during the suspension period. He will not be allowed to leave the premises without prior permission from the Commandant, as per the official directive.

The suspension comes amid the circulation of a viral video on social media, allegedly showing Suman Das sitting on the road, pleading and crying in front of multiple police personnel. The video, which captures what appears to be a heated altercation and a distressing scene, has sparked widespread reactions online.

While the exact circumstances leading to the confrontation remain unclear, sources suggest that the incident triggered swift administrative action. However, no official statement has yet been released by the police regarding the video or the incident.

The suspension order was signed by Binoy Kishore Debbarma, Commandant of the 3rd TSR Battalion. Additionally, letters have been sent to officials across various levels of TSR and the police department for further information and inquiry.

This incident has once again raised serious concerns about the discipline and conduct of TSR personnel. Whether the administration takes a stricter stance or the matter fades away with time remains to be seen.
