Teliamura, Tripura — Tension flared at Hawai Bari under Teliamura Police Station after allegations of extortion and unnecessary harassment by a police constable at a naka point.

According to local sources, several vehicle drivers along with vegetable traders and buyers from different areas staged a protest, accusing Constable Biswajit Malakar of illegally collecting money in the name of “overloading fines.” The protesters alleged that the constable was targeting vehicles without valid reasons, demanding payments on the spot.
The situation escalated when enraged vegetable sellers threw their produce onto the road in a dramatic display of anger. The protest brought traffic on the National Highway to a standstill, creating chaos in the area.
Police officials are yet to comment on the allegations, but the incident has sparked widespread criticism from locals and traders alike.
