Agartala’s ongoing Smart City Project has sparked tensions as covered drain construction across various parts of the city has created widespread disruption. The work, aimed at improving the drainage system, has left roads congested and caused difficulties for motorists, rickshaw pullers, pedestrians, and local shopkeepers.
Frequent arguments between city residents and construction workers have been reported. On Monday, in the Kamar Pukur Para area, a dispute broke out between local residents and workers engaged in the drain work. What began as a verbal altercation soon escalated into a physical clash.
Police rushed to the spot following the incident, prompting the workers to halt their activities. Authorities have confirmed that, so far, no formal complaint has been filed by either party.
