A high-security alert has been sounded in Jammu after security forces intercepted a pigeon carrying a threat message tied to its leg. The bird was captured by the Border Security Force (BSF) in the RS Pura sector, around 40 km from Jammu city.
According to officials, a slip of paper was tied to the pigeon’s leg with messages written in both Urdu and English. While the Urdu message read, “Kashmir belongs to us. The time has come, it will be ours,” the English portion contained a warning of an IED blast targeting Jammu Tawi railway station.
Following the discovery, security was immediately tightened at Jammu Tawi station as well as other sensitive locations across Jammu and Kashmir. Additional forces were deployed, and surveillance was stepped up to rule out any potential threat.
However, security officials have not ruled out the possibility of mischief. Sources suggested that the note could have been planted as a prank from across the border rather than a serious attempt to issue a terror threat.
The incident comes amid heightened vigilance in the region, where unconventional methods have occasionally been used in the past to send cross-border messages.
