Udaipur, February 2:

A tragic road accident occurred late Sunday night near Netaji Subhash Bridge in Udaipur when a speeding truck lost control and crashed into a roadside house, resulting in the death of the truck driver.

According to local sources, the incident took place around 10:00 PM in the Chowmuhani area. The truck reportedly went out of control while crossing the bridge and rammed into a residential building. A portion of the house collapsed due to the impact, triggering panic among residents in the surrounding area.

At the time of the accident, family members were present inside the house. They narrowly escaped serious injuries and were rescued soon after the incident. However, the truck driver, identified as a man aged around 60, was trapped under the debris. He was immediately rescued by locals and police and rushed to Udaipur District Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The sudden accident caused tension in the locality, with residents rushing to the spot after hearing a loud crash. Preliminary investigation suggests that the truck lost control while descending from the bridge, though the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

Upon receiving information, police from Udaipur Police Station, along with senior officials and disaster response teams, reached the scene promptly. Heavy police deployment was made to control the situation, and a crane was used to remove the damaged truck and debris.

Police have seized the truck and initiated an investigation into the incident. Further inquiry is underway to ascertain whether overspeeding or mechanical failure led to the accident.

The house suffered extensive damage due to the collision. Fortunately, no other casualties were reported.
