Tipra Motha is set to return to power in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) as the people of the hills have already made up their minds, claimed Tipra Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma. He asserted that in the upcoming ADC alliance, the “national party” would draw a blank and fail to secure even a single seat.
In a strong message posted on his personal social media platform, Debbarma issued a stern warning to the ruling BJP. He alleged that a section of BJP leaders is misleading the Chief Minister on hill-related issues and openly threatening Tipra Motha leaders, ministers, MLAs, and supporters from public platforms—even in the presence of the Chief Minister. He further accused them of spreading false narratives involving him and Rajmata Bibhu Kumari Devi.
Debbarma claimed that threats are being issued against Tipra Motha from BJP platforms, with clear signals that tribal communities would be denied socio-economic development. He said that if a few BJP leaders under the Chief Minister’s leadership believe there is no need for a BJP–Tipra Motha alliance, the Chief Minister should state it openly. However, he alleged that those leaders lack the courage to do so, despite threatening to capture all 28 ADC seats.
Stating that Tipra Motha is still an alliance partner, Debbarma condemned the abusive language allegedly used against his party at public meetings. He said this was unprecedented in the state’s history, where the tribal community is being threatened and insulted in such a manner.
He further challenged BJP leaders to clearly declare that they do not want an alliance with Tipra Motha. If that happens, he said, he would inform the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister that BJP leaders in Tripura have violated coalition principles, effectively ending the BJP–Tipra Motha alliance in the state. He termed it “surprising” that BJP leaders do not have the courage to make such a declaration.
Warning that power is temporary, Debbarma said that if BJP leaders claim to have evidence of corruption against him, they should show courage, get him arrested, and openly announce the end of the alliance.
He also announced that Tipra Motha has decided to take legal action against the alleged illegal occupation of ADC land in Bishramganj.
While expressing respect and affection for the Chief Minister, Debbarma accused certain BJP leaders operating under his patronage of attempting to deprive tribal people of their rights over land, language, education, employment, healthcare, basic amenities, electricity, transport, and housing. He pointed out that the Government of India had promised to restore tribal rights through the tripartite agreement, and any attempt to undermine those commitments would not be accepted.
