Agartala, Tripura — A first information report (FIR) has been registered against seven individuals, including MLA Ramprasad Pal, following an alleged incident near a journalist’s house in Agartala. The case was filed on February 17, 2026, at the E.D. Nagar Police Station based on a complaint by Shanit Debray, the editor of a local newspaper.
According to the complaint, a group of people, allegedly including the legislator and other local leaders, distorted the complainant’s photograph and displayed it near his residence on February 13. The FIR has been lodged under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), such as Section 190 (examining magistrate), Section 351 (assault), Section 352 (punishment for assault), and Section 356(2). Police may issue notices to the accused as the investigation progresses.
The other individuals named in the FIR with MLA Ramprasad Pal are Udaybhaskar Chakraborty (Mayor-in-Council), Manta Debnath (Suryamaninagar Mandal President), Maloy Lodha (Anandanagar BJP leader), Sitesh Bhattacharya, Gouranga Rakhit, and Manish.
