Free Cataract Surgery at Gomati District Hospital

Agaratala, 29 May, 2025: Elderly and underprivileged individuals with various eye problems are receiving treatment, including free cataract surgeries, from the ophthalmology department of Gomati District Hospital. On May 28, ophthalmologists at the hospital successfully conducted cataract surgeries on a total of 33 patients.

Patients identified during eye screening camps held at various locations in the district were brought in for free cataract surgeries at the hospital. This operation was led by Dr. Hriday Acharjee, Chief Ophthalmic Surgeon of the Eye Department at the hospital, along with Dr. Shyamalendu Debbarma (Ophthalmologist), Dr. Shila Bhattacharjee (Anesthetist), and Nursing Officer Sangeeta Paul, supported by other medical staff.

Post-operation, patients were given detailed instructions regarding regular eye care and how to avoid blindness. Additionally, they received free eye medications, spectacles, and food.

The patients and their families expressed deep gratitude for the compassionate treatment provided by the ophthalmologists and staff of the Gomati District Hospital.
