Condolence Message Withdrawal for Pakistanis Sparks Controversy: Colombian Government Responds to Indian Delegation Led by Shashi Tharoor

Date:

The Colombian government has withdrawn its previously issued message of condolence for Pakistani victims, which has sparked considerable debate. In response to growing concerns, especially from the Indian side, a delegation from India, led by prominent parliamentarian and diplomat Dr. Shashi Tharoor, visited Colombia to discuss the matter.

The issue revolves around “Operation Siddur” and the subsequent alleged inaction by the Pakistani government in handling certain killings, which India claims are unjust and grave in nature. The Indian delegation presented their perspective and formally expressed India’s concerns over the Colombian government’s earlier position.

Upon arrival in Colombia, Tharoor and his team held high-level discussions with senior Colombian officials. During the meeting, they emphasized the need for international solidarity in condemning acts of terrorism and ensuring that any gestures of sympathy are rooted in truth and justice.

In light of these discussions, the Colombian government issued a revised statement clarifying their position, distancing themselves from the earlier condolence note and expressing a commitment to reviewing such diplomatic messages with greater scrutiny in the future
