SP Namit Pathak Relieved of Duties in Gomati; Directed to Report to Police Headquarters

Date:

Namit Pathak, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Gomati district, has been relieved of his responsibilities and instructed to report to the Police Headquarters. In his place, Vijay Debbarma, the current SP of Sepahijala district, will take on additional charge as SP of Gomati.

The change comes in the backdrop of recent unrest in Gomati, where TIPRA Motha’s youth wing sealed the District Magistrate’s office following a standoff with local administration. While no official reason has been provided for the transfer, the decision follows mounting scrutiny over the law and order situation in the district.

Vijay Debbarma will now oversee police operations in both Sepahijala and Gomati districts until further orders.
