
In a significant breakthrough, West Agartala Police have arrested five individuals in connection with the theft of generator batteries from the local court premises. The arrests were made following a complaint lodged on May 5 at the West Agartala Police Station, reporting that two batteries used for running a generator at the court complex had been stolen.
Providing details about the operation, Sadar SDPO Debaprasad Roy informed that upon receiving the complaint, an FIR was registered, and a special investigation team was constituted under the leadership of Officer-in-Charge Paritosh Das. The team began a detailed investigation, which led to the identification and tracking of suspects involved in the theft.
On the night of Thursday, police conducted multiple raids across different locations and successfully apprehended five accused persons. The stolen batteries were recovered during these operations. The accused were presented before the court on Friday, where the police sought three days of remand for further interrogation.
In a separate development, based on secret information, the West Agartala Police also conducted a raid at the residence of Aman Chauhan in Joy Durga Para, located in the Gol Chakkar area. During the raid, police seized a consignment of Benarasi sarees valued at over ₹3.5 lakh. However, no arrests have been made in connection with this case so far, and further investigation is underway.
Both cases highlight the proactive efforts of the West Agartala Police in tackling theft and property-related crimes in the region. Authorities have assured that such operations will continue to ensure the safety and security of public and private assets.
