Tensions Soar as Trump Rushes Back from G7 Amid Escalating Iran-Israel Conflict

Date:

Washington/New Delhi – The White House confirmed Monday that U.S. President Donald Trump is cutting short his visit to the G7 Summit in Canada and returning to Washington ahead of schedule, amid rapidly escalating tensions between Iran and Israel.

In a brief exchange with reporters before boarding Air Force One, Trump remarked, “I have to return early—for obvious reasons.” While official statements remain cautious, sources suggest the sudden move is directly linked to growing fears of a broader Middle East war.

White House Press Secretary Caroline, addressing reporters on X, noted, “A lot is happening very fast. The President will attend the leaders’ dinner, then head back immediately.”

Trump, never one to hold back on his social media platform Truth Social, wrote a blunt post criticizing Iran and reiterating a long-standing U.S. policy stance. “Iran should have signed the deal I proposed. What a shame, all this loss of life. I’ve always said: Iran must never be allowed to possess nuclear weapons,” he wrote. Urging urgency, he added, “Everyone should leave Tehran as soon as possible.”

The situation in the region has turned dire in recent days. Following Israeli airstrikes on Iranian military facilities and nuclear sites last Friday, Iran responded with a barrage of drones and ballistic missiles. Reports suggest over 230 Iranian casualties so far, with multiple cities, including Tehran, suffering damage. During a live broadcast, an Iranian news agency’s office was struck by an Israeli missile, intensifying public fear.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Trump’s decision to prioritize the Middle East crisis. Speaking from the G7 venue, he stated, “President Trump’s early return signals the seriousness of the situation. He’s proposing a ceasefire initiative to defuse the Iran-Israel confrontation.”

Despite the flurry of diplomatic signals, analysts warn that the coming days will be crucial. Whether the U.S. chooses a hands-off approach or decides to engage more directly could determine whether the crisis spirals into a full-scale regional war.

For now, the world watches anxiously as the clouds of conflict thicken over West Asia.
