In a shocking incident, a group of eleven MLAs, including Promod Reang, narrowly escaped a serious road accident in Kanchanpur on Saturday. The legislators were on an inspection visit to various tribal hostels when the accident occurred.
The team, led by Tripura Legislative Assembly’s Chairman of the Tribal Welfare Committee, Promod Reang, had begun their journey from Agartala on July 4. The purpose of their visit was to review the condition of tribal residential hostels, boarding schools, and under-construction hostel facilities in North Tripura and Unakoti districts.
On the second day of their tour, one of the vehicles in the convoy lost control in Kanchanpur and violently rammed into two parked vehicles on the roadside. The front part of the car was severely damaged, and the driver along with one co-passenger sustained minor injuries. The suddenness of the crash caused panic among the local residents.
Fortunately, Promod Reang and the other MLAs remained unharmed in the incident. The team had set out to assess the ground reality of the tribal hostels, many of which are reportedly in a dire state.
