An 80‑year‑old man, Shanti Ranjan Das, was tied up and killed during a nighttime robbery in the Shri Durga Sangha locality of Melaghar near Sonamura. His wife, Namita Das, suffered injuries. The assailants stole gold, cash, and valuables.
Police have arrested three suspects from Kathalia Mura, Sonamura; investigations are ongoing to track down more members of the gang. SP Bijoy Debbarma confirmed progress in the inquiry.
