As part of its efforts to enhance Agartala’s infrastructure and beautify the city, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has undertaken the renovation and beautification of various abandoned water bodies across the city. Several such projects have already been completed and made accessible for public use.
On Saturday, a newly renovated and beautified pond near the Nagerjala Motor Stand in Ward No. 33 was officially inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor Dr. Manik Saha. The project, developed at a cost of ₹1.49 crore, aims to transform the once-neglected pond into a serene and usable space for the citizens.
The inauguration ceremony began with the unveiling of a plaque by the Chief Minister, followed by a traditional Ganga Aarti. As part of the “Plant a Tree in Mother’s Name” initiative, Dr. Saha also planted a sapling before the main event commenced.
The event saw the presence of several dignitaries including Mayor of Agartala Deepak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, and local corporator of Ward No. 33, Abhijit Mallick, among others.
During his address, Chief Minister Dr. Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and highlighted the central government’s continuous efforts toward national and state development. He also pointed out the achievements of the state government, stating that from January to June 2025 alone, projects worth ₹212 crore have either been inaugurated or had their foundation stones laid across Tripura.
