CM Manik Saha Calls for Mass Movement on Tree Plantation

Agartala, Wednesday – Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has called for building a mass movement to promote tree plantation across the state. The appeal came during the official launch of the initiative “One Tree in Mother’s Name 2.0”, held at Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ School in Agartala.

The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries including Special Secretary of the Education Department Raval Hemendra Kumar, Director of School Education N.C. Sharma, and SCERT Director Lalnunneni Darlong, among others.

As part of the program, saplings were planted within the school campus by the Chief Minister and other guests, symbolizing the formal inauguration of the second phase of the initiative. Later, the dignitaries visited various sections of the campus where tree plantation activities were being carried out.

A special highlight of the event was the participation of nearly 60 students, who planted trees in the name of their mothers, accompanied by their mothers themselves. Students from several other schools also attended the ceremony.

In his speech, Chief Minister Dr. Saha emphasized the critical importance of tree plantation in combating climate change and preserving ecological balance. He urged citizens to treat tree planting not just as an event but as a movement that every individual should actively support and be part of.
