Fresh Gunfight Erupts in Kishtwar as Army Launches Anti-Terror Operation

Date:

Kishtwar, Jammu & Kashmir | August 10, 2025 — A tense situation is unfolding in the Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir as Indian Army troops engage in an intense anti-terror operation. According to security sources, gunfire was exchanged early this morning after forces received specific intelligence inputs about the presence of armed militants in the region.

The area has been cordoned off, and additional reinforcements have been rushed to ensure that no suspects escape. Local residents have been urged to remain indoors as the encounter continues.

While official confirmation on casualties is yet to come, the operation is part of a larger security push aimed at curbing militant movement in the Chenab Valley region, which has seen sporadic activity in recent months.

Authorities have tightened checkpoints and increased surveillance in and around Kishtwar, signalling that the security forces are prepared for an extended engagement if necessary.
