Gomati Riverbank Erosion Triggers Panic Among Locals!

Date:

The relentless rainfall has caused the Gomati River to swell dangerously, leading to severe erosion along its banks. In particular, the Indiranagar area, located near Wards 8 and 9 of the Melaghar Municipality, is facing the brunt of the river’s fury. The strong current of the Gomati River is rapidly eroding land near residential houses, posing a grave threat to the lives and property of the residents.

Despite raising the demand for preventive measures over the past two decades, the issue has been consistently ignored by the concerned authorities. Locals have taken to the streets on multiple occasions, staging protests and demanding action. However, their pleas have repeatedly been met with empty promises and no concrete steps.

Now, with each passing day, homes and properties continue to disappear into the riverbed. The situation has left residents in a state of constant fear and uncertainty, as the erosion shows no signs of slowing down.
