Health Camp Reaches Remote Dhananjay Para in Tripura’s Kalajhari Hills on Foot

News Report:
A health and anti-addiction awareness camp was successfully organized in the remote tribal village of Dhananjay Para, nestled in the Kalajhari Hills, located 23 kilometers from the town of Amarpur in South Tripura district.

Despite the challenging terrain and lack of motorable roads, healthcare workers from Amarpur Sub-Divisional Hospital trekked over 16 kilometers on foot—crossing hills and streams—to reach the villagers and provide essential medical services. This remarkable effort was jointly conducted by the Amarpur branch of the Hepatitis Foundation of Tripura, the Udaipur Science and Cultural Forum-led ASHAAS TI AIDS Project, and the Amarpur Sub-Divisional Hospital.

The camp was held under the administrative region of the Amarpur RD Block, with health workers beginning their journey from Paharpur village. Their arduous journey underscores the dire lack of basic infrastructure in the area, as even decades after India’s independence, Dhananjay Para remains disconnected from proper transportation facilities.

The initiative also shed light on the continued negligence by successive state governments and the autonomous district council authorities, who have failed to develop basic connectivity and uplift the socio-economic conditions of indigenous communities residing in these remote hill areas.
