Agartala : witnessed a major protest on Wednesday as more than a thousand rickshaw drivers blocked roads in the IGM Hospital area. The demonstration was held in response to restrictions imposed on their entry into several key areas of the city, including during peak office hours and normal traffic periods.
The protesting rickshaw pullers claimed that these restrictions are severely affecting their daily income and livelihoods. They have now demanded an immediate resolution from the government to lift or ease these limitations so they can continue operating without facing financial hardships.

The road blockade caused massive disruption in the area, especially for the general public and patients visiting IGM Hospital. Many were forced to walk long distances, and ambulance access was also hindered. Citizens expressed frustration, blaming both the traffic police and local administration for failing to manage the situation and for creating policies that hurt both workers and the public.
The rickshaw union has indicated they are ready to continue their agitation until a proper dialogue with the authorities takes place.
