News Report:
In a major breakthrough, East Agartala Police have arrested Khitish Sarkar, the alleged mastermind behind several theft and snatching incidents. Alongside him, two other accused — Amit Debbarma and Binoy Sen — have also been taken into custody.

The incident that led to the arrests occurred on Thursday when a woman named Shekhra Mallik was walking along a road in the Dhaleswar area. A group of youths on a bike suddenly approached her and snatched a gold necklace from her neck. The victim promptly lodged a complaint at the East Agartala Police Station.

Acting on the complaint, Officer-in-Charge Rana Chatterjee formed a special team. Based on the victim’s description, the team began investigating and successfully identified and apprehended Khitish Sarkar as the prime suspect. The police also seized the bike used in the snatching, which had a fake number plate.

According to SDPO Debaprasad Roy, Khitish Sarkar has four pending warrants against him at the East Agartala Police Station. The three arrested individuals will be presented before the court on Friday with a plea for remand. Further interrogation is expected to lead to the recovery of other stolen bikes linked to previous cases.
