In a commendable initiative to raise public awareness about thalassemia, the Rotary Club organized a special awareness program at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The program aimed to educate people about the causes, prevention, and management of thalassemia — a serious genetic blood disorder.

The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor Dr. Manik Saha, who emphasized the importance of early detection and regular screening to combat the spread of the disease. He also lauded the Rotary Club for their proactive role in community health initiatives.

Renowned gymnast and Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar also graced the occasion as a guest of honour. In her speech, she encouraged the youth to come forward and participate in such social awareness campaigns.

Several healthcare professionals, social workers, and members of the Rotary Club attended the event, making it a meaningful step towards spreading awareness and encouraging preventive healthcare practices in the state.
