A wave of fear has spread among residents following a theft incident in Udaipur. Yesterday marked the occasion of Loknath Thakur’s festival, and in celebration, a special puja was organized at a relative’s house of Swapna Barman in the Jamjuri area of Udaipur.
All the family members had locked the house and left to attend the puja. Taking advantage of the situation, a group of thieves broke into the house and made away with cash amounting to around ₹60,000 to ₹70,000, along with four to five pieces of gold jewelry.
When the family returned later that night, they found the main gate still locked, but the inner locks had been broken and the house ransacked. The incident was reported to the Kakraban Police Station the same night, and police rushed to the spot. An investigation has been launched.
