Three Jaish Militants Killed in Jammu and Kashmir Ahead of Amit Shah’s Visit

Date:

Ahead of Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir starting Thursday, security forces achieved a major success by neutralising three Jaish-e-Mohammed militants in separate encounters in Kishtwar and Udhampur districts.

On Wednesday, a joint operation was launched by the Counter Insurgency Force (Delta), White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF following intelligence inputs about militant movement in the remote Dichhar area of Kishtwar. The White Knight Corps confirmed through social media that operations are still ongoing.

According to security sources, two Jaish commanders—identified as Rubani alias Abu Mavia and his close associate Zubair—were trapped inside a cave in Udhampur during an operation that began on Tuesday. A prolonged gunfight lasting nearly 20 hours ensued. Several explosions were heard from the cave early Wednesday morning, after which the bodies of the two militants were found with gunshot injuries.

Later the same evening, another Jaish militant was killed during an encounter in the snow-covered Chhatru region of Kishtwar.

During the operations, security forces recovered a significant cache of arms and explosives, including an M4 carbine, an AK-series assault rifle, three grenades, and other materials. Despite the elimination of the three militants, intensified surveillance continues across multiple areas with the help of drones to ensure no remaining threats persist.
