Top Maoist Central Committee Leader Believed Killed in Encounter; Identification Underway

Date:

In what could be a major breakthrough for security forces battling left-wing extremism, a senior Maoist leader is believed to have been killed in a recent encounter. The individual suspected to have been neutralized is Narsimhachalam, who operated under multiple aliases including Gautam and Sudhakar. He was a Central Committee member of the CPI (Maoist) and one of the most wanted Maoist figures in Maharashtra, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh.

Sources in the security establishment have indicated that the encounter took place during a targeted operation in a Maoist-affected zone. While the body of the slain Maoist has been recovered, police are currently awaiting official identification to confirm whether it is indeed Narsimhachalam.

Narsimhachalam had been associated with numerous high-profile insurgent activities and held a senior leadership position in the Maoist hierarchy, making his possible elimination a significant blow to the organization’s operational capabilities.

Adding to the gravity of the development, two other prominent Maoist leaders—Bandi Prakash, a State Committee member, and Pappa Rao, a key figure in the Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee—were reportedly part of the same Maoist group involved in the encounter. Intelligence inputs and initial evidence from the site have led to strong speculation that they too may have been killed in the exchange of fire, although formal identification is still awaited.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and are conducting a detailed search operation. Forensic teams are being deployed to assist with body identification and evidence gathering. Senior police officials have remained cautious in their public statements, choosing to wait for scientific confirmation before declaring the identities of the deceased.

If confirmed, the deaths of these high-ranking Maoist leaders will mark a major setback for the CPI (Maoist), particularly in the Dandakaranya and Telangana regions, where they had maintained strong influence and operational control.

Further details are expected to emerge in the coming days as the police complete the identification process and issue an official statement.
