Date:

Agartala | August 8, 2025 — In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the Amtali Police Station recovered 90,000 Yaba tablets during a search operation on the Amtali Bypass. Authorities arrested one suspect and seized an auto-rickshaw used in the smuggling attempt.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, sharing the news on social media, praised the police for their swift and effective action. He reaffirmed his government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug smuggling from the state.

“We remain committed to building a Drug-Free Tripura, and our relentless fight against drug smugglers will continue with full determination,” CM Saha stated.

Yaba, a dangerous methamphetamine-based drug, has been a growing concern in Northeast India, with Tripura often used as a transit route by traffickers. The latest seizure marks one of the significant drug busts in recent months, reinforcing the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards narcotics.

Police have launched further investigations to track down the network behind the smuggling attempt.
