Water Level Rises in Howrah River Amid Continuous Rainfall

Date:

Howrah is experiencing a steady rise in the water level of its river due to persistent rainfall caused by a low-pressure system that has been active for the past two days. The continuous downpour has led to increased water flow in the river, raising concerns among residents and local authorities.

In particular, the Bot Tala area near the Howrah Market is facing a critical situation. Several shops located close to the riverbank are now in a dangerous state due to ongoing riverbank erosion. The ground beneath some of these structures has already begun to give way, putting both property and livelihoods at risk.

While the current water level is still flowing below the official danger mark, meteorologists warn that if the rain continues through the day, the river could swell further, potentially crossing into more hazardous levels. Local businesses and residents are keeping a close watch on the situation as authorities prepare for possible emergency measures.

Officials have urged people in low-lying areas to remain alert and take necessary precautions in case the water level continues to rise.
