The week-long traditional Kharchi Festival began on Thursday with rituals and worship of the Fourteen Deities at the Chaturdash Devta Temple. On the very first day, the temple witnessed a massive gathering of devotees.
Jirania Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Animesh Dhar provided detailed insights about the significance and arrangements of the festival. The formal inauguration of the grand seven-day Kharchi Puja and Fair was done by Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday.
He was joined by Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA Ratan Chakraborty, and several other dignitaries. After the main inaugural program, the Chief Minister also offered prayers at the temple.
This historic and culturally rich festival continues to draw large numbers of devotees and visitors every year.
