Youth Dies in Mob Attack During Alleged Goat Theft in Chandinagar Constituency

A shocking incident unfolded near the government mulberry garden adjacent to Kalishasan Tea Estate in the Chandinagar constituency. As per local sources, three youths arrived in a WagonR vehicle and allegedly attempted to steal a goat from the area.

The act was witnessed by a local youth named Logen Urang. Upon realizing they had been seen, the three accused reportedly released the goat but then ran over Logen Urang with their vehicle while trying to escape. Urang suffered serious injuries, including a fractured leg.

While attempting to flee the scene, the accused were intercepted by local residents at the government mulberry plantation area. Two of the suspects managed to escape, but one was caught by the angry mob.

The detained youth, identified as Pradip Das from Ratia area in Kumarghat, was severely beaten by the locals. The mob also set the vehicle on fire in a fit of rage. Unfortunately, Pradip Das succumbed to his injuries on the spot due to the intense mob assault.

The third accused, identified as Dipan Debnath from Kumarghat, managed to flee, while another individual, Nirmal Das from Pecharthal, was apprehended by police.

Top officials, including the Superintendent of Police and members of the forensic team, rushed to the scene following the incident. The case has triggered widespread shock and tension in the area. An investigation is currently underway.
