Agartala, Aug 28: Tension gripped IGM Hospital in the state capital after the sudden death of a school student triggered outrage among her family members and locals.
The deceased has been identified as Papiya Sarkar, a resident of Joynagar Dashami Ghat area in Agartala. According to sources, the girl left for school on Wednesday morning but soon felt unwell and collapsed on the premises. She was immediately rushed to IGM Hospital.
Doctors reportedly administered an injection and advised blood tests. However, Papiya’s condition deteriorated further after being brought to the hospital. Her family members alleged that when they informed the doctors, they refused to begin treatment until the blood test results were available.
Tragically, the schoolgirl succumbed in the meantime, sparking anger among relatives and locals. Soon after, chaos erupted inside the hospital, with a section of people resorting to vandalism.
On receiving information, a large police contingent, including the officer-in-charge of West Agartala police station, rushed to the spot to bring the situation under control.
