Udaipur, July 27:
With only minutes left before their scheduled exam, students of Tatuatila Higher Basic School were left standing in the rain on Thursday morning as not a single teacher arrived at the school on time. The incident took place at Tatuatila Higher Basic School in the Uttar Chandrapur area under the Udaipur sub-division.
As per reports, the school gates remained closed past the scheduled opening time, leaving students drenched in rain while waiting outside. Local residents pointed out that the school was established in 2009 after years of demand from the community, who since 2000 had been urging the administration to set up an educational institution in the area to ensure that local children could pursue their studies.
Initially, the school brought hope to the community, and many children enrolled and began attending classes regularly. However, over the past few years, the quality and standard of education have declined significantly. Parents and students allege that teachers have become increasingly irregular in attending school, which has resulted in a steady drop in student enrollment.
According to students, the school, which offers education from Class 1 to Class 8, currently has seven teachers — five male and two female. However, on Thursday, the day of an official exam scheduled for 11:00 AM, none of the teachers were present at the school by the designated time. Students arrived punctually, only to find themselves waiting in the rain with no shelter or supervision.
Students also claimed that this is not a one-off incident. They often have to wait in the rain as the school fails to open on time regularly. Despite repeated complaints to the headmaster, Madhusudan Mondal, no effective measures have been taken to resolve the issue.
Frustrated by the mismanagement and continued negligence, many parents are now choosing to withdraw their children from the school. Local residents are demanding immediate intervention from the school authorities and the education department to ensure proper functioning of the institution.
All eyes are now on the education department, as residents await action to bring accountability and restore the standard of education at Tatuatila Higher Basic School.
