In a tragic road accident, a school teacher lost her life after a collision between a tomtom (battery-operated rickshaw) and a bike near the Dhalabil CMO office in Khowai on Wednesday morning.
The incident occurred around 11 AM under the jurisdiction of Khowai police station. The deceased has been identified as Arati Das, aged 59, a resident of Mahadevtilla. She was a primary section teacher at Sonatala Higher Secondary School in Khowai.
According to eyewitnesses, Arati Das had gone to the CMO office for official school work. After completing her work, she was returning home in a tomtom when a speeding motorcycle rammed into the rear of the vehicle. The impact caused her to be thrown from the tomtom, resulting in severe head injuries.
Locals immediately rushed her to Khowai District Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
