Five Arrested in Shocking Kamalpur Murder of Ashish Das

Date:

The police have charged them with murder and presented them before SDJM Kamalpur, Madhumita Biswas, who granted a four-day police remand for all five accused. Authorities suspect that more individuals may be involved behind the scenes.

The accused will be produced in court again on Tuesday. Ashish Das was murdered on June 17 in Chhoto Surma and his body was later dumped near Abhanga Chhara, far from the crime scene under the jurisdiction of Salema police station.

In a sensational development in the Ashish Das murder case, police have arrested five individuals from Chhoto Surma in Kamalpur. The accused were produced before the court on Friday. They have been identified as Souvik Das — son of Purabi Singh Roy, an enlisted contractor worth ₹3.5 crore and a former Nagar Panchayat member during the Left regime — his driver Kajal Das, Tony Dey, Apon Bhumij, and Santosh Gaur.
