Negligence by PWD Leads to Truck Accident — Driver Narrowly Escapes!

Date:

A major accident was narrowly avoided in the Shantir Bazar subdivision area after a goods-laden truck met with an accident due to a dilapidated bridge. The incident took place near the Baikhora Primary Health Centre.

The Bailey bridge connecting Baikhora and Laxmichhara has reportedly been in a severely damaged condition for years. Despite repeated complaints from local residents to the concerned officials of the Baikhora Public Works Department (PWD), no concrete action was taken to repair the structure.

On Sunday, a truck bearing registration number TR 05 J 1532 was attempting to cross the bridge when it suddenly collapsed beneath the vehicle’s weight. Fortunately, the driver managed to escape unharmed, avoiding what could have been a tragic outcome.

Local residents have once again raised concerns about the negligence of the PWD and are demanding immediate reconstruction of the bridge to prevent further mishaps.
