Rare Slow Loris Rescued from Floodwaters in Melaghar’s Tel Kajla Area

Date:

Tripura, Melaghar: In a remarkable incident from the Tel Kajla area of Melaghar, a rare and possibly endangered species — suspected to be a Slow Loris — was rescued by a group of local youths.

According to reports, several young men had gone fishing in the floodwaters when they noticed an unfamiliar animal floating towards them. Recognizing it as a wild creature in distress, they immediately pulled it out of the water and brought it to safety.

When local journalists arrived on the scene on Tuesday morning, the rescuers admitted they could not identify the species but believed it might be a Slow Loris, a primate considered endangered and rarely seen in the region.

The local residents promptly informed the Forest Department, and officials are expected to arrive soon. Once they do, the rescued animal will be handed over for proper care and assessment.

This unexpected rescue has sparked interest among locals and wildlife enthusiasts alike, raising hopes for the conservation of such rare species in the region.
