Simultaneous Protests Over Power and Water Crisis Bring Sonamura to a Standstill

Date:

Report:
Public outrage over ongoing electricity and drinking water shortages sparked simultaneous road blockades in two separate areas of Sonamura on Tuesday. The protests erupted unexpectedly, causing significant disruption to daily life.

One protest was held at Tukkar Chowmuni under Fakiradola Panchayat in the Boxanagar constituency, while the other took place in the Dhaliya area under the Sonamura Municipal Council. As demonstrators blocked major roads, vehicular movement came to a complete halt in both areas, leading to severe inconvenience for commuters.

Among those affected were several students on their way to examinations, who found themselves stuck in the traffic chaos. Locals demanded immediate intervention from authorities to resolve the persistent issues of power cuts and lack of potable water.
