Congress MLA Gopal Chandra Roy has proposed holding an all-party meeting and a discussion in the state assembly with participation from all members before making any final decision on the installation of smart meters in Tripura. Roy questioned the contradictory stance of the BJP, pointing out that while the party is opposing smart meters in West Bengal, it is facilitating their installation in Tripura. He termed this move as “hypocrisy.”
On Saturday, while conducting door-to-door visits as part of the AICC’s campaign program, Roy raised concerns about the state’s law and order situation. He alleged that despite sending prior notice about his program two to three days in advance, adequate security arrangements were not provided.
Referring to a recent attack on him, Roy also questioned why no arrests have been made so far. Without naming anyone directly, he took a veiled jab at MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, criticizing his role in the matter.
